Mobilising supporters

Carers UK’s success relies on our ability to mobilise our growing number of supporters. It is their energy and commitment that means we are able to punch above our weight. By working in partnership, we harness the expertise of other organisations who can help to improve carers’ lives.

Carers UK members

Carers UK provides carers with a voice and they provide us with a mandate to campaign to improve their lives. Our members give us vital evidence through surveys which we use to press for change, our members take action by writing to their MP about their personal situation and what change would make a difference to their life. They elect our Trustees, a majority of whom must be carers. You can help us make a difference to carers' lives by joining Carers UK today.

A network of hundreds, reaching thousands

Over 500 organisations are affiliated to Carers UK. These include local carers organisations, local councils, disability charities, and NHS Trusts. They help us reach hundreds of thousands of carers and make sure carers are better informed of their rights. These organisations help make Carers Week and Carers Rights Day a success by organising events and promoting carers' rights.

Carer campaigners

Many carers’ own experiences leave them feeling that services need to be improved. Carers UK’s Equal Partners project is providing over a thousand of these carer campaigners with the skills, know-how and back up to influence decision makers. This is absolutely vital in ensuring that the changes Carers UK wins at national level are translated into local action that makes a real difference to carers’ lives. Through Equal Partners we provided carers with the facts about the Human Rights Act and the responsibilities their local councils and NHS have towards carers. This puts campaigners in a strong position when lobbying.

Carers UK Branches

Carers UK reaches carers through a network of 80 branches. Our branches are run by carers or former carers. Branches help carers beat the isolation caring can bring by offering a friendly place for carers to share experiences and frustrations with people who understand and appreciate their situation. Whether it is campaigning for change or organising a day trip Carers UK branches are a lifeline for thousands of carers who rely on them for support, advice and a listening ear.
